LIGNA 2019 – Review

Siempelkamp guiding principle:
“Intelligence in integrated
wood processing”

Siempelkamp presented itself to the international audience at LIGNA 2019 in Hanover with a modern and open design.

New convincing booth concept
An interactive experience of the intelligent system

Selected trade fair attractions illustrated the wood-based panel system of tomorrow, for example the digital Experience Room or the 10-m-long interactive system visualization with AR feature. As Siempelkamp service specialist we presented as part of the overall concept SLS services and products which significantly increase the performance of existing plants and bring them up to date with the latest technology. Selected 3D-exhibits of our Service 4.0 products and presentations, e.g. on the topics of 24/7 Remote Service, spare parts or Prod-IQ®, provided a lasting impression of this.

Our LIGNA highlights

Spare parts service: In order to fulfill the Siempelkamp motto "Intelligence in integrated wood processing", the development of spare parts must be kept up to date with the latest technology. Examples presented at LIGNA included the new high-performance HPC-40 roller rod chain, our optimized insulations, improved friction lining design and the steel belt from our cooperation partner Contibelt. Another topic was our new online service platform which makes our spare parts service even more efficient. Our customers could already convince themselves of some features of our plant-specific spare parts catalogue, our “Siempelkamp Lifecycle Service”:

  • Systematic plant structure tree with spare parts overview
  • Directory of installation locations
  • Drawings, plans, 3D graphics, etc.

Field service and support: The focus here was on our 24/7 remote service, the SLS remote system specially developed for industrial use. In the event of plant failure, malfunction or for production optimization, we can use this system to analyze the condition of the plant immediately, quickly, above all safely and around the clock.

These include in particular our new, highly automated technical developments, which ensure reliable production, greater efficiency and higher availability.

MES and Industrial IT: MES & Industrial IT was also a LIGNA topic. Here we presented intelligent production which optimizes the entire production process of a plant almost at the push of a button – first and foremost Prod-IQ®. This modular system for production data management significantly increases productivity. The new module in the Prod-IQ® family, Prod-IQ.profile, which was demonstrated live at the trade fair, met with great interest among the visitors. The module enables fine-tuning of production by predicting the raw density profile of boards online on the basis of physical models and the simulation of mat behavior in the press. The operator can simulate the effect of setting changes before entering them into the system.
