Successful event in Turkey

Symposium of SLS and Sico
Innovations and trends on the agenda

We will go where our customers need us – and from October 11 to 12, 2018 Istanbul was our destination. SLS and Sico jointly invited to a symposium there to exchange ideas with Turkish Siempelkamp customers and to present the latest developments, trends and innovations. The more than 100 participants who accepted the invitation showed great interest in it.

Modernization of existing plants
One of the main topics of the symposium

SLS Managing Director Dr. Stephan Niggeschmidt together with present colleagues spoke about the possibilities of improving the performance of these plants in the long term, especially with SLS Service 4.0 products. Examples listed included EcoPulser, Ecoresinator, EcoPilot, 24/7 Remote Service, SicoCam and automation upgrades. Retrofitting with these products sustainably optimizes old plants and brings them up to a state-of-the-art comparable to that of new Siempelkamp plants. The presentation of the software family Prod-IQ® was also met with great interest. The participants learned that the latest module, Prod-IQ® Next, is now being put into practice after its first public presentation at LIGNA 2017.

Further lectures rounded off the program of the event. These included, among others, a presentation by Ulrich Kaiser, Sales Manager at Siempelkamp Maschinen und Anlagenbau GmbH. He offered an insight into the history of the ContiRoll® from Generation 1 to the current Generation 9. Another topic was new trends in the wood-based panel industry, e.g. hybrid particle boards. The contribution by the Siempelkamp subsidiary Pallmann focused on the modernization of machines for wood size reduction and defibration. Electronic Wood Systems (EWS), also a member of the Sico Group and manufacturer of the SicoScan measuring system, contributed interesting facts on the subject of modern measuring technology. The main focus was on how EcoScan NEO and EcoFormer can be used to increase the forming precision of fiber mats.

Impressions from the symposium

Summary: an outstanding event
With a chance of repetition

Stefan Wissing, Managing Director of Pallmann and SLS, summarized the symposium as follows: “This was an outstanding event which was followed by our customers with great interest in all presentations. Siempelkamp has many friends in Turkey. We are looking forward to repeating this symposium in the future and expect to see high participation again”.

The success of this first symposium was not least due to the organization of the event, which was carried out by the Siempelkamp representative office in Turkey around Faruk Şişci. With the Green Park Pendik Hotel & Convention Center its team had chosen an ideal venue and provided a varied supporting program. Thus, in addition to the informative part of the symposium, exchange and entertainment were not neglected. The next opportunity for informative exchanges came a few days later: During the Intermob Istanbul 2018 from October 13 to 17 the experts of SLS and Sico and the Turkish Siempelkamp customers were able to further intensify the topics of the symposium.
