Real-time precision
The new system measures the belt position in the center of the press, providing a precise live image of the steel belt. Any belt mistrack or curvature is reliably detected. This allows deviations to be identified at an early stage and corrected in a targeted manner before they cause damage or downtime.
Another advance: for the first time, it is possible to measure the upper and lower belts simultaneously. This significantly expands process monitoring – regardless of the material or mat thickness being processed. BeltEdgeDetect uses a Class 2M laser that does not require additional protective measures. A fresh air supply to the sensor keeps its optics clean and ensures suitable temperature conditions.

Today, laser technology
Until now, measurements were taken using a mechanical plate that was placed directly on the edge of the belt. This solution was functional, but it caused friction, wear, and recurring downtime. BeltEdgeDetect puts an end to this principle once and for all. The laser measurement process eliminates any contact to the belt: the steel belt surface remains intact and the edge curvature is not damaged, which reduces the risk of stress peaks with potentially resulting cracks.
